New Years in Japan is a very sacred & spiritual time of year. With lots of Buddhist and Shinto shrines and temples to visit and pay your respect to their respective gods of Buddhist or Shinto faith.
Since i was staying in Ikejiri-Ohashi which is situated between Sangenjaya and Shibuya along the Nakameguro river in Tokyo closest local shrine within walking distance was the Kamimeguro Hikawa Jinja which is of the Shinto faith/religion.

Nestled amongst the main drag of ikejiri-ohashi is the small but beautiful shrine. The shrine has a peaceful & serene vibe and is well worth traversing the ominous looking and steep staircase.

Kamimeguro Hikawa Jinja.
You can buy Fortune notes for ¥100 and even luck charms and talismans from ¥500 from this shrine when it’s store front is open.

Fortune note and Talisman of mine from the shrine.
So if you’re in the Ikejiri-Ohashi area on a special day or in the area looking around i recommend paying a visit to this shrine.
Ikejiri-ohashi is on the Tokyū De-En-Toshi line and is one stop from either Shibuya or Sangenjaya.
